Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:

On Friday, April 7, 2017 at about 1635 hours, a Senior Correctional Deputy working in the Humboldt County Correctional Facility was assaulted by inmate Alexi Greenspan who is currently in custody serving a sentence for a violation of probation.

Two Deputies were in the process of escorting Greenspan from the processing area of the jail to his assigned housing location when Greenspan suddenly attacked the Senior Correctional Deputy striking him in the face with a closed fist.

The Senior Correctional Deputy sustained moderate injuries and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment.  It was determined he will have to undergo surgical procedures and possibly be flown out of the area to make a full recovery.

Greenspan has been booked on charges of assault and battery of a custodial officer, battery causing serious injury and obstructing an executive officer.  The case has been submitted to the District Attorney for prosecution.
