Zakary
Michael Gilmore
November 19, 1979~August 12, 2017
Our
beautiful boy Zak passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2017 at the
age of 37.
Zak
was born in Fortuna on Nov. 19, 1979. He attended Ambrosini School,
Toddy Thomas and graduated from Fortuna High. He loved sports. He
excelled at baseball and basketball. He always knew the stats on
every player in any sport. He also loved music, especially The Doors
and The Rolling Stones. When he heard a song, he could always name
who had sung it.
Zak
struggled in his adult years with addiction problems that he just
couldn’t beat. Even with his problems, Zak would do anything to help
others. He had a heart of gold. He would help anyone, but couldn’t
help himself.
His
Grandma Joyce had passed away two weeks earlier. She was always
worried about him, and now they are together. He is also preceded in
death by his Grandma Barker, Uncle Larry and good friend Zeng
Saechao.
He
is survived by his parents, Michael and Kathleen Gilmore, his sister
Katie, niece and nephew Ryan and Taylor, his Uncle Gary, Aunt Sharon,
Aunt Carlene and his cousins Blake, Kyle and Trevor and several other
family members.
There
will be a celebration of Zak’s life Saturday, Aug. 26 at 1:30 p.m.
at the Fortuna Multigenerational Center, 2280 Newburg Road (across
the street from St. Luke’s). Please wear your favorite rock and roll
T-shirt or Raiders or Oakland A’s jersey in Zak’s honor. This will be
a time we can all share our favorite stories and memories of Zak.
We would like to thank everyone for all the love and support you have shown our family in the last few weeks. We know Zak is at Peace now and he will live in our hearts forever.
