EPD: 75-Year-Old Man Arrested for Murder After Calling Police to Report Fatal Shooting
Eureka Police Department press release:
On Friday, August 25, 2017, at around 6:00 PM, Eureka Police Department officers
responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on the 1300 block of 7th Street,
Eureka. The caller, 75-year-old David Alan Kobak, reported he had just been
involved in a shooting inside the residence.
Upon arrival a short time later, officers contacted and detained Kobak near the front
door entrance. Kobak was cooperative. Officers then entered the residence where
they found an adult male victim lying on the floor bleeding from multiple gunshot
wounds.
Emergency medical assistance was requested and lifesaving efforts were attempted.
However, the male was subsequently declared deceased at the scene. Kobak was
later arrested by EPD detectives for 187(a) PC – Murder. The victim’s identity is
being withheld until the next of kin are notified.
This is an ongoing investigation and further information will be released as it
becomes available.
