Shortly after 9:30 this morning, a Humboldt County probation officer spotted a truck he suspected had been stolen and alerted the Eureka Police Department. Officers responded and made a “high-risk” traffic near the intersection of C and Humboldt streets, briefly holding the suspect at gunpoint, according to scanner traffic and Public Information Officer Brittany Powell.
The Tacoma was green when reported stolen but had been spray-painted black, according to Powell. The driver, later identified as 38-year-old Adam Bryce Rapp, was detained without further incident, and the truck was later determined to be a 2002 Toyota Tacoma that had been reported stolen to the California Highway Patrol, Powell said.
Rapp, who was arrested last year in connection to stolen vehicles vehicle burglaries in Samoa, was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility to be booked for possession of a stolen vehicle, Powell said.
