OK. Several LoCO readers have asked for details on gunfire heard in central Eureka Saturday night.

According to Brittany Powell, public information officer with the Eureka Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of 15th and B streets after residents reported a man outside talking on a cell phone was discharging a firearm into the air.

Upon arrival, officers contacted Maurice Coleman and found a gun in the bed of a parked pickup truck. Coleman was arrested and booked into jail on charges of negligent discharge of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and public intoxication.
