Robert Gordon Williams, Jr. was born in Eureka on October 12 1966, and passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 12, 2017.
Robert grew up and attended school in the Cutten, Ridgewood area of Eureka. As a young child Robert spent countless days running around behind his folks home in the woods, fishing, hunting and just hanging out with his neighborhood buddies that he had kept as life long friends. Back in those days Ridgewood was kind of out in the sticks.
There was one time when Robert and his brother Allen and some buddies were pigeon hunting and came across some pheasant. The boys all ran back to Robert’s house and told his mother Pat what they had seen. She told them they were full of it and that there were no pheasant in the area. The boys were adamant and finally convinced Pat to go back with them. Well, they found the pheasant and after a few pellet gun shots and a small wrestling match the boys had bagged a pheasant for supper that night. Come to find out the neighbor was raising them and the boys all swore to keep it a secret.
Robert attended and graduated from Eureka High School in 1984. After high school he went to work in the construction field working for a number of contractors, while honing his concrete finishing skills. Robert would later get his contractors license and worked for himself. He was very adamant about doing things the right way and showing pride in his work.
Robert remained an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life, if he wasn’t working he was on the water or in the hills doing what he loved.
Robert is survived by his son Matthew Robert Williams; His parents Robert Gordon Sr. and Patsy Williams; His brother Allen Williams and family; his sister Melissa Williams and his many life long friends too many to list.
There will be a celebration of life on March 25 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Wharfinger Building in Eureka. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you donate to a charity of your choice.
