Carolyn Joyce (Davis) Lind passed away on January 29, 2017 at the age of 84. She spent the last 3½ years in the Renaissance facility of Timber Ridge, Eureka. We sincerely thank the caregivers for their compassionate and considerate care of Joyce.

Joyce was born in Santa Ana but lived most of her life in Bakersfield. She was a dental nurse in Bakersfield and then moved to Los Angeles, where she retired as a bookkeeper with McKesson-Robbins. While still in the Los Angeles area she was devoted to her mother and was a great comfort to her in her final years.

Joyce then moved to Eureka to be near family and worked part-time in the Humboldt County Elections office. Joyce was not a recluse by any means but she kept to herself. However, she was always ready for a talk and usually had an opinion on most subjects that always included a dash of humor that we all loved.

Joyce was an avid reader and enjoyed a wide range of music. She also discovered the love a dog can bring to one’s life and had two dogs during her later years. Until the onset of dementia, Joyce was always self-sufficient. She was a truly good person and would never harm a soul. She will be missed.

Joyce is survived by her brother, Don R. Davis, sister-in-law, Carol A.Davis; nephews, Spencer Ray Davis (Rose), Brett Andrew Davis, Randall H Davis (Erika); great nephew Jules Roland Davis and great niece, Sabrina Rose Davis.

At Joyce’s request, there will be no services.
