Our beloved mother crossed over on June 1, 2017 at the age of 99 years young!

She was born in Alton, Illinois to Herman and Bessie Reuss on April 1,1918. Mom grew up in a log cabin in the Missouri Ozarks. She came to California in the 1940s to visit her brother, who was stationed at the Naval Base in Oakland, as he was heading off to war. She loved Northern California and never left.

Mom lived in Smith River for over 30 years, where she will always be remembered for her enchiladas and being the town seamstress. Later mom moved to Rio Dell to be closer to her family.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, brother Fred Reuss, son Augustine Rodriguez and grandson Ian Strouse. She leaves behind her daughters and spouses Pat (Bob) Munoz of Middleton, Idaho; Cecilia (Keith) Waldron of Eureka; Virginia Cobian (Ron Dalton) of Rio Dell; grandchildren Michael Munoz, Stephanie Mips, Tony Cazabat, Michele Carlson, Olivia Cobian and Crystal Ziganti. Great Grandchildren, Michael, Zachary, Nickolas, Christopher, Persia, Zaia, Forrest and Kamaile. Also her one and only “Special Niece” Michelle Reuss of Las Vegas, along with numerous family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 at 12 p.m. at St. Patricks’s Catholic Church in Scotia. Graveside service is Saturday, July 8 at 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at the Smith River Community Hall located in Smith River.

In honor of our mother, let’s all wear her favorite color, red! We would also like to thank everyone at Fortuna Rehabilitation and Wellness Center for the loving care of our mother.
