A fire in a Valley West mobile home was quickly knocked down late this afternoon, as Arcata Fire District personnel managed to contain the damage to the double-wide’s bedroom
Arcata Fire Chief Justin McDonald tells the Outpost’s John Ferrara, on scene, that three of his engines and one from Humboldt Bay Fire responded to the scene on Spruce Way, and were able to knock the fire down quickly. An ambulance was also called to the scene, as initial reports suggested that a resident of the home had suffered from smoke inhalation, but that person turned out to require no treatment, McDonald said.
Spruce Way is closed at this time as firefighters continue to mop up.
