Roger Anthony Walters, 57, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Eureka after a year-long illness. He was born on April 29, 1960 to Jimmie and Luella Walters in Garberville. He was a resident of Fortuna.

Roger grew up in Campton Heights. He graduated from Fortuna High School in 1978. He was a talented mechanic for most of his life, although he later became a truck driver. Roger had a passion for cars, auto racing and junk collecting. He especially loved helping his kids and grandkids with their race cars.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Ryan Walters (Rachel), Sara Moore (Scott) and Dustin Walters (Kenzie). He had five grandchildren — Janice, Timmy and Andrew Walters and Dylan and Reese Moore. He is also survived by his siblings Joe Walters, Glenna Walters, Jennifer Bernstein and Bill Walters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Luella, his grandparents, and uncle Ole Sundet.
