Humboldt County Drug Task Force press release:
On June 16, 2017, at about 9:00 A.M. Special Agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force with assistance from a Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office Investigator served a search warrant at a residence located in the 2500 block of C Street in Eureka. The search warrant was granted after a week-long investigation led special agents to believe narcotics were being distributed from the residence. When the agents arrived at the residence they located 46 year old Leafe Dodds, 49 year old Sunny Jo Wisehart and 50 year old Michael Jones. All three claimed they lived at the residence and evidence obtained on scene corroborated those statements.
The District Attorney’s Office Investigator searched the residence with his narcotics detection K-9. The K-9 alerted to the presence of an odor associated with narcotics in several locations inside the residence. As a result, Special Agents located approximately 209 grams of suspected heroin and 5 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Along with the drugs, evidence of sales and narcotics use were found throughout the residence. These items included digital scales, packaging materials, pay and owe sheets, hypodermic needles, straws and glass pipes. Agents also located $7,500 in US currency that was seized as it was believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales.
Leafe was arrested for maintaining a residence for the purposes of distributing a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic, possession of a narcotic for sale, possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy. Sunny Jo was arrested for maintaining a residence for the purposes of distributing a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic, possession of a narcotic for sale, possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy. Michael was arrested for possession of a narcotic for sale and conspiracy. All three were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked for the above listed charges.
