June G Fredrickson of Eureka passed away June 13, 2017. Born June 24, 1921 she would have been 96 in 11 days.

June had many wonderful qualities, her number one quality being the love of her family. She was proud of all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren – she loved them to the limit.

She wanted to make sure everyone had enough to eat. She was a fabulous cook. A lot of good memories were in her kitchen. She always had a recipe in mind, no matter what the occasion. She loved her potlucks at her social events and loved her family gatherings. Christmas was especially her favorite, decorating and cooking every year.

June was born in Eureka to Ernest and Bessie Raab in their home on H Street, later moving to Buttermilk Lane in Arcata where she was raised going to Jacoby Creek School and graduating from Arcata High School. She Met Erwin Fredrickson and they married in 1942. Together they had three children – Duane Fredrickson (Karen), Jim Fredrickson (Kathy) and Darlene Fredrickson-Shearer (Steven).

June and Erwin lived on Erwin’s family ranch at Kneeland and later moved to Eureka where they resided the rest of their lives.

June and Erwin were married 72 years when Erwin passed away in 2015.

June was very social right up until the end, still attending meetings of her social events. She was a member of Humboldt Grange, Swiss Club, and Native Daughters of the Golden West, VFW Ladies Axillary and Society of Humboldt County Pioneers.

June is survived by her children; Sister Eunice O’Neill; grandchildren Terry, Stephannie Fredrickson, Melissa Grace (Rob), Jason Fredrickson (Emily), Lynn Wilson, Kelly Ramirez (Alejandro), Kevin Meyer, Ryan Grammer and Trisha Shearer; great-grandchildren Austin &Wyatt Grace, Brianna Fredrickson, Vanessa & Diego Ramirez, Courtney & Jeremy Wilson, Jared & Victoria Meyer, Jacob & Olivia Grammer.

June is also survived by her loyal hairdresser of 42 years, Trevor Griffith, who she thought so much of.

June was preceded in death by her husband Erwin Fredrickson; her parents Ernest and Bessie Raab; and sister Myrtle Hill.

Funeral will be Sunday, June 18, 2 p.m. Visitation 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at Saunders Funeral Home 1835 E Street, Eureka.

A gathering afterward will be at Humboldt Swiss Club on Tompkins Hill Road. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday June 19th at Iaqua Cemetery.
