Eureka Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Shooting on Wabash Earlier This Week

On June 16, 2017 at about 9:32 a.m., the Eureka Police Department received reports of two
shots fired in the area of Wabash Avenue and B Street. The suspect was seen leaving in a
black Dodge Charger. Officers responded and located two shell casings in the street on the 20
block of Wabash Avenue.
During the course of the investigation the intended victim of the shooting was identified. The
victim was able to identify the shooter as 34 year old Eureka resident, Michael Grant. Based
on supporting evidence, investigators developed probable cause that Grant attempted to kill
the victim.
On June 21, 2017 at about 9:23 p.m., Michael Grant was arrested within a block of where the
shooting took place. He was in possession of a loaded handgun. Grant was booked into the
Humboldt County Correctional Facility on a warrant and fresh charges for felon in possession
of a firearm.
On June 23, 2017 at 4:00 p.m., investigators booked Grant with attempted murder and
