Yes, THE Jill Stein — Harvard-educated medical doctor, environmental activist, Green Party presidential candidate and former member of 1990s folk-rock duo Somebody’s Sister. Little-known fact: Stein’s campaign manager was none other than Humboldt County’s own David Cobb, himself a former Green Party presidential candidate.
Opinions of Stein vary widely. To some she represented the last principled option in the 2016 race after Hillary and the DNC colluded to sabotage Bernie. To others she was the Ralph Nader-style spoiler who handed Trump the presidency, or even a “right-wing tool” out to destroy the Democratic Party.
Not that the right wing would have her.
At any rate, Stein received more than 6 percent of Humboldt County’s presidential votes, with 3,681. Humboldt loves Stein! And she’ll be here next week!
