A semi truck plowed into the Hopland Tap House along Highway 101 in Mendocino County this morning after the driver reportedly suffered from an acute coughing fit.
The Ukiah Daily Journal reports that a man roughly in his 40s was driving a truck filled with sawdust through Hopland when he lost control of his vehicle and hit the business just before 4 a.m.
Hopland Fire Chief Mitch Franklin told The Daily Journal that the driver suffered major injuries, and would have been airlifted to the hospital if weather permitted. The driver was taken via ambulance to a hospital in Santa Rosa instead.
