The PG&E workers mean you no harm, as is explained in the press release below:

 

Today, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will begin routine inspections on foot along an electric transmission line that runs from Eureka up to Bridgeville eastward toward Trinity County.  PG&E contract crews may need to access private property along 65 miles of the line in order to complete the inspections.  Because of the terrain, the use of unmarked all-terrain vehicles will be used. 

These inspections will help PG&E maintain and improve the overall electric system reliability for its customers in Humboldt County.  Foot patrols will occur seven days a week between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.  However, weather and other factors may impact the work schedule.

Whenever possible, crew members will introduce themselves at residents’ locations and answer any questions residents may have about the inspections. PG&E contractors will be wearing safety vests, most likely orange and yellow, and always carry photo identification cards.
