Rosemarie Hauger passed away at her home in Eureka on April 20, 2017. She was born Rosemarie Patricia Finlay on January 7, 1940, in Framingham, Massachusetts, to Sally Frances Costanza and Arthur Edward Finlay. She grew up on “Mechanic Street” surrounded by a large and vibrant tapestry of relatives and friends.

Rosemarie’s charitable nature, effervescent personality and fearless spirit were a strong reflection of her rich Sicilian-American heritage. Though raised in meager conditions, she was eternally grateful for the rich family experiences of her youth. “We never felt poor,” she would exclaim in reflection. As an adult, she would eventually settle on the West Coast and become the owner/operator of the Honeycomb Beauty Salon in Ferndale for more than 30 years. During this time, she cultivated many loyal friends and developed a rich faith in Christ that would serve her well. To know Rosemarie was to know a true friend. It didn’t matter who you were – Rosemarie was all-encompassing in love, generous in compassion, and sparkling with joy. She always had extra room in her heart for new members of her family and friends.

Rosemarie is survived by her husband, Michael, and his son Mike, her sister Joanne, five children (yes five) including Virginia, Chris, Johnine, Patsy and Lewis, as well as sixteen grandchildren and four “honorary” granddaughters.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at Redwood Christian Center in Eureka on June 3, 2017, at 1 pm. Colorful attire is encouraged! We invite you to join us in celebrating our beloved Rosemarie.
