You were finally right, Humboldt. That helicopter you saw hovering over your grow on Sunday was interested in your weed. But not in the way you might think.
Marcus Lemonis, star of the CNBC show “The Profit,” is in town filming a marijuana documentary, and he’s interested in the pros and cons of the industry.
“The Profit” is a CNBC reality TV show that takes Lemonis across America in search of failing businesses. Lemonis then offers up large sums of cash in exchange for complete control and a future stake in the companies.
However, based on numerous social media videos Lemonis has posted during his trip to Humboldt, the documentary, which he referred to as “The Profit of Pot in America,” seems to be a one hour spin-off documentary that will air this fall.
In one social media video, Lemonis describes why he’s in town while soaring over Honeydew hoop houses via helicopter with Humboldt County Sheriff’s officers.
“My goal throughout this documentary is to educate people about the pros and cons of marijuana,” Lemonis says in the video. “Not to give it a slant one way or the other. This is not an opinion-based documentary. It is to show people the facts and let people draw their own conclusions.”
Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commissioner Cassandra Hesseltine said she is not able to comment on the project at this time. We will update when we know more.
