The Chief Deputy Coroner of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office was arrested in Eureka Thursday afternoon for sexually abusing an underage girl during a seven-year period.

The Marin Independent Journal reports that Coroner Darrell Harris was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on a warrant charging him with four felony counts of child molestation.

The Journal article states that the alleged crimes occurred in Marin County, but that the Santa Rosa Police Department led the investigation to avoid any conflicts of interest.

As of yesterday, Harris was still being held in Humboldt County on $750,000 bail. He’s set to be arraigned on Monday in Marin County.
