UPDATE, 7:20 p.m.: Capt. Brian Stephens of the Eureka Police Department tells the Outpost’s Andrew Goff, on scene, that reports of four or five shots fired reached the police department at just about 6 p.m. Police arrived and secured the scene, but the shooter was not found.

An automobile in the parking lot may also have been hit, Stephens said. Police were not able to locate any eyewitnesses able to identify a shooter. They’re still investigating, and are seeking videotape from nearby businesses, including the Pine Motel, that may provide leads.

Gunshots rang out on Broadway in Eureka this evening just after 6 p.m., and at least two bulletholes were left in the front of the Les Schwab Tire outlet just as it was closing for business.

The Eureka Police Department is at the scene investigating, and are marking off the scene with yellow crime tape. Officers were also across the street, in the parking lot of the Pine Motel.

It appears that no one was injured. We’ll update when we know more.
