Phyllis K. Davy passed away Oct. 12, 2017 in Fortuna at the age of 87. She was a life-long resident of Humboldt County.

She was born Nov. 11, 1929 to Alphonso and Winifred Pedrotti. Phyllis attended Assumption Catholic Elementary and graduated from Ferndale High School. She married Jim Davy on May 10, 1952. They were married for 55 years, until Jim’s passing in 2008.

She was a homemaker while raising nine children, and when the youngest child entered kindergarten in 1972 she went to work for Loleta Elementary school for approximately 30 years. After retirement she started her life of volunteering at Loleta grammar school, pantry shelf, S.C.O.P., Redwood Memorial Hospital Pink Ladies, Ferndale Senior Lunches, Meals on Wheels, Ferndale Museum and Ferndale Repertory Theater. She was involved with the following service organizations: Ferndale Lions Club, Los Amigos, Loleta Chamber and St. Patrick Altar Society.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her son Kory, husband Jim, her parents Alphonso and Winifred Pedrotti, three brothers and one sister. Phyllis is survived by eight children Tracy (Valorie) Davy, Greg (Bonnie) Davy, Tim (Sue) Davy, Jody (Ed) Leivas, Barry (Becky) Davy, Darby Davy, Troy (Cindy) Davy and Tammy (Matt) Forsell; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing at Goble’s Fortuna Mortuary on Oct. 19 from noon to 5 p.m. Rosary at Assumption Church Ferndale at 7 p.m. Mass will be held Friday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. at Assumption Church Ferndale, with Father Manuel Chavez celebrant. Interment is at St Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery Loleta. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Patrick’s Altar Society or St. Patrick’s cemetery fund ( P. O.. Box 593 Loleta Ca. 95551).
