The Outpost has received numerous inquiries about smoke rising from the Arcata Community Forest behind Humboldt State University. A CalFire helicopter has been making water runs to and from the location.
What’s ablaze? The editor of The Lumberjack, HSU’s student newspaper, made the trek back into the woods and facebooked one of several shots they took at the scene — see below, or click here for more. The burning culprit turns out to be a redwood stump.
