Barbara LaMar left this Earth peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 5, 2016. She was born in Calipatria, Calif. on June 16, 1940 to Eugene and Nellie Demele.

She relocated her family from Pittsburg, Calif. in the 1980s to work for Simpson Pulp Mill in Samoa when the Crown Zellerbach in Antioch was sold out. When they closed out, she later worked for Louisiana-Pacific and Evergreen Pulp Mill.

She was in the United Pulp and Paper Workers Union for 36 years, and enjoyed her job and the friends she made while working there.

She was the youngest of 12 children and the 10th to leave this Earth. Since then, her sister Mabel has also left this Earth, leaving only her brother Donald in Salinas.

She was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters, as well as her daughter Betty, a twin to Barbie, and her son Johnny.

She leaves behind her son Gene LaMar and family of Discovery Bay, Calif.; daughter Barbie Thomas and family of Weippe, Idaho; daughter Laurie LaMar and family of Westhaven; and daughter Sabrina Boyd and family of McKinleyville. She leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she loved very much.

She also leaves behind her best friend, Molly Fusi.
