The only real questions McGuire received from members of the committee concerned what would be done with the railroad authority’s debts. McGuire acknowledged that this is an issue that needs to be worked out — not only does the authority owe money to the private company that runs trains on its track, it is also in arrears to employees, including its attorney.

In the meanwhile, the NCRA continues to spend. Earlier this week, it continued to petition the United States Supreme Court to take up its appeal of a California Supreme Court decision that held the authority to state environmental law.
