A press conference held to address the firefighter killed while battling the Mendocino Complex Fire.
A firefighter from Utah has died after suffering severe injuries while battling the Ranch fire yesterday evening.
“We are here to confirm that we’ve had a firefighter fatality on the Ranch Fire within the Mendocino Complex,” a Calfire spokesperson said during a press conference last night.
The firefighter was reportedly airlifted to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. This is the first death reported in connection to the Mendocino Complex Fire.
Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman said that more information will likely be released today regarding the fallen firefighter.
The Ranch Fire in now the largest single fire in state history at 305,490 acres. The fire is 68 percent contained.
