Maria Valadao was born on December 8, 1919, in Costa do Lagedo, Flores, Azores and went to be with the lord on August 12, 2018.

She was married to the late Alfredo Valadao and together they raised five children. The family moved to the United States in 1971 where Maria found work at Lazio’s Fisheries working as a crab picker and packer for 22 years until her retirement. After retiring, you could always find Maria working in her garden, visiting family or enjoying time with friends.

Maria is proceeded in death by her husband Alfredo Valadao, her parents and siblings, her infant daughter, Maria Elena Valadao, son, Jose Duartino Valadao, Daughter-in-Law Adelia Valadao, and Son-in-Law Manuel De Rosa.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Rosa, Maria J. Valadao (Antonio) and son, Virgil Valadao (Heidi), nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Paul’s Chapel in Arcata. Rosary and funeral services will be held August 17, 2018 at St. Mary’s Church in Arcata at 11 a.m., with interment following at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lei Han, all the staff at Granada, and hospice for all the care they gave Maria during her stay there.
