Sometime in the late night of Thursday July 12th, another beloved family member was taken from us much too soon. Christopher Eugene Caywood went to join his brother Corey Caywood, Grandma Margie Caywood, Grandpa Chris Caywood, and cousin Michelle Miller in Heaven.

Christopher, or Chris as he was known to his many friends, served his country as a member of the Coast Guard, where he received the training to become an expert in computer systems. However, Christopher’s true love was music, and he was an accomplished guitar player who loved performing with his band Nova Blue.

Chris was a very loving and gentle soul who made friends wherever he went and loved and supported his family.

Chris was born on September 23, 1967 to his proud parents Ron and Rosita Caywood. He was born in Eureka and grew up in Blue Lake and Eureka. He was most recently from Los Angeles, where he was very active in his music career.

Chris was preceded in death by his brother Corey Caywood, grandma Margie Caywood, grandpa Chris Caywood and his cousin Michelle Miller. He is survived by his father, Ron Caywood and wife Chon; mother, Rosita Caywood; his brothers, Curtis Caywood and wife Cindy, Brent Lund and Brandon Lund; his sister, Angie Nhem; and niece, Vickie. He is also survived by his aunts — Shirley McKinney and partner Dale, Brenda Caywood, Chrystal Brown and husband Raymond, Roberta Hannah and Janine Flores – uncles Leroy Caywood, Ken Caywood and wife Char, and Joseph Mendiola. He also leaves behind the cousins he grew up with — Bryan McKinney and wife Jody, Aaron McKinney and wife Renie, Brett McKinney and wife Colette, Kelly Caywood, Shaun Matthews and wife Kathleen, Teresa, Mike, Joyce, Chrystal and numerous other family members and friends.

Chris was a much-loved member of our family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We lost another link in our family chain, but we gained another angel, and we know that one by one the links will be joined again in Heaven. We know he is now in a better place and we thank God that he was a member of our family as we are all richer for having known him.

There will be a potluck celebration of Christopher’s life on September 29, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Mad River Grange in Blue Lake. All Chris’s family and friends are invited to come and share their memories of Chris. Please bring your own drinks. Coffee will be provided.
