Guylla Rose Pierson passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 64 on November 16, 2018 at Mad River Hospital in Arcata, after battling a long-term illness

Guylla was born on July 22, 1954 at Trinity Hospital in Arcata to William Henry Crutchfield Sr. and Rosa Lee Snider (Ownbey). Guylla was a lifelong resident of Humboldt County. Her formative years were spent in Blue Lake, and later her family moved to Sunnybrae, to their current family home. She was a daughter, sister, auntie, mother, and the best title of all was “grandmother.”

Guylla was a strong woman willing to stand up for what she believed was right. She possessed a beautiful and caring inner strength. A woman of few words, she wasn’t a gossiper or someone to quickly judge others.

Guylla was very tough and a natural-born athlete. She threw shot put and discus at Arcata High School and was an active member of the Women’s Softball League. She loved swimming, water skiing and camping trips to Trinity Lake. She adored children and they adored her and her loving kind way. She loved time with her many nieces and nephews, too. She was known to be a jokester and loved playing games. She worked as a hair stylist, set chokers for logging and later on did in home health care for the elderly. She had a loving heart and often prayed for those in need. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her mother, Rosa Lee Snider, children Jeremiah Hannon and Heather Pierson Kellogg. Her sisters Lila Rasmussen, Theresa Surbaugh, Jerri Jean Marsh, Tracy Crutchfield, Carleen Seidner and brother William Crutchfield Jr. and their respective families.

The family takes comfort knowing she is now in heaven with Jesus. A Celebration of Life will be held at Blue Lake Community Church at 440 Wahl Street, Blue Lake, Ca. at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018. A potluck gathering is planned immediately following the service. Please join us to celebrate.
