It
is with great sadness that we must announce that Jacqueline Mae
Shannon passed away unexpectedly in her home in Eureka on
Sunday December 9. She was 69 years old.
Jackie was born August 20, 1949 to Jack and Barbra Wilson. The oldest of four children, she was a lifetime resident of Humboldt County, graduating from Fortuna High School and married her high school sweetheart Michael Shannon in 1968. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
Before retiring a few years ago, Jackie worked as an Office Manager for Sanders Funeral Home. Since her retirement, she kept busy doing small home renovation projects and taking care of her husband Mike. Jackie was a fabulous cook and no family dinner was complete without her macaroni salad, potatoes au gratin (a.k.a potato blop), to name a few.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Barbara Wilson. She is survived by her beloved husband Mike, her daughter Amy, son-in-law Duane and brothers Dennis, Clifford and Brian as well as her fur-babies Simon, Carly, Waylon and Willie, as well as other family members and friends.
Following Jackie and Mike’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Miranda’s Animal Rescue at 1603 Sandy Prairie Road, Fortuna, CA 95540 or any charity of your choice.
