File photo – McKinleyville’s Jake White (20) scored 11 points in Friday night’s triple-overtime clash at Enterprise.

The McKinleyville boys enjoyed mixed results at the Enterprise tournament over the past few days, including a thrilling triple-overtime loss to the host school in the semifinal.

The Panthers opened tournament play on Thursday with a 62-44 win over Oroville, before dropping two straight, falling to Enterprise 85-80 in Friday’s semifinal, and 60-48 to University Prep in Saturday’s third-place game.

Isaac Puzz led the team in scoring in all three games, finishing with 79 points for the tournament, including 32 points in Friday’s overtime clash.

Craig Peterson also had a big game in Thursday’s win, finishing with 11 points, as the Panthers took control early, running out to a 16-point advantage in the opening quarter.

Thomas Locatelli added eight points in the win.

In Friday’s game, AJ Stubbs had 24 points, while Jake White finished with 11.

Puzz was 10-of-11 from the free throw line against Enterprise, as the Panthers rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit with a big third quarter.

In Saturday’s game, Puzz scored 25 and again was almost automatic from the line (9-of-10), with teammate Freddie Sundberg adding 10 points.

The Panthers started slow and never really recovered, getting outscored in all four quarters by the No. 16 Division-IV team in the state.

Next up for the 7-6 Panthers is their league opener at home to Arcata next Saturday.
