Jack Gordon Anderson, Jr. passed away on January 25, 2018 after a long and difficult fight with an untreatable heart condition. Jack was welcomed into this world as the beloved only child of Jack Sr. and Melva Sundquist Anderson on July 30, 1961 in Eureka. Jack attended school in Eureka and graduated high school in 1979.

Jack was raised within a tight-knit family who are very proud of their Norwegian, Swedish-Finn Heritage. Jack’s great-grandmother Thora Larsen was one of the founding members of the local Norwegian Hall.

After graduating, Jack moved around to Arizona, Southern California, Sacramento and then back home to Eureka. In 1991, his cherished daughter Heather was welcomed into his world. Jack loved being a dad and showing off his baby girl. It was a common site to see the two of them driving around Humboldt with the top off of his corvette; two blondes cruising.

Jack was known as man that had an easy smile and was always willing to help a family member or friend. He had an incredible soft spot for children and was the favorite at family gatherings. Jack was also an animal lover, most notably nurturing and bottle feeding his adored cats, Tiger and Sissy.

Everyone who knew Jack knew he had a passion for cars and loved being involved in and participating in car shows. What they may not know is that Jack had a quiet artistic side, often drawing and writing beautiful poetry.

Jack for many years worked for Pepsi and Mission Linen until his health forced him to retire. The people he met along his routes were his favorite part of the job.

As a man who liked to do things, the last several years were difficult as health issues caused his world to become smaller and more limited but he would never let on. Jack would light up in conversation and act like all was good. That ready smile there front and center.

During Jack’s final days he was surrounded by loved ones. The family would like to thank Mike Hammond and Mark Kinsey for their friendship to Jack and the continued help and support of Heather and Melva.

He is survived by his daughter Heather, his mother Melva, uncles, aunts and cousins.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack G. Anderson, Sr. and his grandparents, Melvin and Mildred Sundquist and Russell and Ruth Anderson.

Please come and celebrate Jack’s life at the Lodge on 445 Herrick Ave., Eureka, on March 11, 2018 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers or gifts please donate on behalf of Jack Anderson Jr. to Hospice of Humboldt or Sequoia Humane Society.
