Leona Mae Steele, born in Brownsville, Oregon, on Sept. 24 1933, passed in Arcata peacefully on Dec. 26, 2017. Married to the love of her life, Donald Steele, for 68 years and together for a amazing 70 years. Best known for the many years they ran their little business at the old flea markets and all they brought to the community.
Ask anyone who knew Leona and their first response would be “kind.” Leona meant many things to many people, but above all she was a honest, kind and loving woman who made this world a better place.
Preceded in death by her, parents Hoyt and Lena Boles, brother Benny Boles and daughter Donna Johnston. Survived by her husband, Donald Steele; son Steven Steele, grandchildren Tammy Munk, Tim Steele and Stephanie Steele; great-grandchildren Rhiannon Munk, Nataya Meng, Zander and Zavier Schmitz and Brynlee Steele; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Leona we will all miss you and life will never be the same without you here.. Rest in peace.
