Robert G Crouse, 85, of McKinleyville passed away on June 16, 2018 in his home with his daughters by his
side.
Bob was born in Centralia Washington to Allie W. and Jessie Crouse on October 28, 1932. He joined the Navy in 1952, served four years in active duty, during the Korean War and six more in the reserves. He married Naomi Prest and had four daughters. He later remarried Lola Dement and melded two families together. They lived in Blue Lake for many years until Bob retired from the timber industry and they moved to Arcata and later McKinleyville.
Bob was a private man who loved working in the woods. It took several attempts at retirement before it stuck. He loved his family especially his six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and his niece and nephew Marty and Bobby Morris.
His loved leather working and made beautiful purses and wallets for his family. He also was a certified small machines mechanic and enjoyed tinkering with small engines.
He was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2018 and lost his battle a short thirty days later. Special thanks to his grandchildren, Holly Grimes, Ryan Duggan and great granddaughter Myranda Pfingsten for taking time out of their busy lives to stay with him. He always had a smile and a “good morning” for them even after the roughest of nights. Their loving care and assistance enabled Bob to stay in his home until the end.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Allie W. Crouse and Jessie Day; his step father Arthur Day; his ex-wife Lola Crouse; his sister Nancy D Morris, brother in-law Norm Morris; nephew Robert Morris and his loving daughter Georgia D Berry.
He is survived by his ex-wife Naomi Prest; his daughters Donna Raff; Deborah Mitchell and Robin Meyer.
The family of Bob wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Mrs. K. Vogelsang FNP and Dr. M Mahan for their wonderful care over the years and for their love of our father.
Donations in his name can be send to American Cancer Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
A celebration of his life and family will be held July 21, 2018 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Mad River Grange Hall in Blue Lake.
