It’s a busy week in Flavortown.

Humboldt’s own celebrity chef Guy Fieri has teamed up the the nonprofit Operation BBQ Relief to serve hot meals to Carr Fire evacuees and first responders in Redding.

“Operation BBQ Relief has deployed to Redding California to serve Hot BBQ Meals to those in need and the First Responders there serving them,” the nonprofit wrote on its Facebook page Saturday. “We are in the process of moving equipment and supplies to the area.”

Fieri is also working with the Salvation Army’s Northern California branch, which posted photos of Guy volunteering in Redding yesterday, serving up pulled pork, coleslaw and rice to evacuees.

“Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri is with us at the scene of the #CarrFire, serving delicious lunch and dinner to hungry evacuees,” the Salvation Army wrote on Facebook today. “The yummy lunch yesterday of pulled pork, coleslaw and rice was sure to lift the spirits of so many who are under a lot of stress right now. We consider Chef Fieri a friend of The Salvation Army, as he came and helped out during the Santa Rosa fires as well. We are grateful to him for taking the time. It shows that he knows what’s important: helping people during their time of need!”

In other Fieri-related news, the rock ‘n’ roll chef also announced the upcoming launch of his very own Disney World restaurant.

Guy’s restaurant, Chicken Guy!, will open later this Summer, Disney announced on its news website Wednesday.

“I’m stoked to be building Chicken Guy! with my friend, Robert Earl,” Fieri is quoted as saying on Disney’s news site. “It’s all about the real deal, all-natural chicken but lemme tell you, our sauce game is on point.”
