At about 12:30 p.m., the Sequoia Humane Society received one kitten found alive in the area of
the Slough bridge turnout. The person who located the kitten had also discovered several
deceased kittens hidden underneath a rock. A shelter volunteer responded to the Slough bridge
turnout and located five deceased kittens and an additional living kitten, all approximately five to
six weeks old in age.
An Animal Control Officer transported the two living kittens to a local animal clinic for treatment.
Both kittens were in critical condition. While at the clinic, both kittens succumbed to their injuries.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this animal cruelty incident. Anyone with

Humboldt County Animal Control would like to remind the public that there are several local
