Deputies Respond to Report of Woman Over the Railing of Humboldt Hill Overpass, Make Felony Warrant Arrest

A Fortuna woman is in custody following a welfare check on Humboldt Hill.
On March 11, 2018, at about 7:15 p.m., Humboldt County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to
the Humboldt Hill overpass for the report of a woman over the railing.
When deputies arrived on scene, they observed the woman, 40-year-old Jennifer May Cooper,
walking with an open lock blade knife along Humboldt Hill Rd. near the Highway 101 Northbound
on-ramp. Deputies contacted Cooper and ordered her to drop the weapon. Cooper complied with
deputies’ requests. Upon further investigation, Cooper was found to have a felony warrant for her
arrest.
Cooper was taken into custody and booked on her warrant for the following charges: assault with
a deadly weapon other than a firearm, vandalism, exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a
firearm and petty theft. Her bail is set at $75,000.
