Jimmy Dale Severe left his loving family on March 10, 2018.
He was born on Sept. 3, 1948, in Alturas. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Rexford and her husband, Robbie; three sons, Colby, Brody and Kaleb Severe; grandchildren, Shawna and RJ Rexford, Kason and Colton Severe, Iren, Kayia and Luka Severe; wife, Coreen; and two stepchildren, Frank and LaShawna. He is also survived by his sister, Deb, and her husband Ron Dockins; nephews, Byron and Jason Dockins; his dear uncle, Howard Reid; many other Severe family members, as well as cousins and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, John and Ova “Tiny” Grice; and his aunt, Nevie Reid.
Jimmy lived a very full life. He had a successful high school athletic career, playing many sports including football, basketball, baseball, track and wrestling. He graduated from McKinleyville High School in 1967, and also attended College of the Redwoods for two years. He worked in the timber industry for almost 20 years and developed a love for the outdoors. Jimmy enjoyed being in the wilderness and living off the land whenever he could. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, working on cars, and he became a very handy man. His work ethic was indescribable. These are all traits that Jimmy passed on to his four children.
Jimmy will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life Lunch will be held Sat., March 17, 2018 at 1 p.m. at The Meadows Senior Village Community Room, 2065 David Way, Fortuna.
