They heavens received another angel on Monday, March 19, 2018. Sharon Smith passed away at the age of 72 due to complications from blood clots, pulmonary hypertension and pneumonia.

Sharon was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She met and married her high school boyfriend in 1963. They had three children, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. But most of all she had an amazing spirit that will be missed by so many.

Sharon ran a home daycare for 35 years, also working in childcare for many years before that. So she played a big part in helping to raise many children in our community, along with their own grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But to Sharon it was more than a job and a paycheck. She loved every child with all her heart. The parents and the kids became a part of our family and also lifelong friends. This was confirmed by all the visitors and the phone calls from all of you the last couple weeks before she passed. Thank you. Also for all those who knew her knows she also loved winning at bingo and slots and camping at Dean Creek in Redway and adored her little dog Gidget.

Sharon was born August 14, 1945 in Eureka to Betty and Ted Sellars.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Bean, father, Ted Sellars, sister, Patty Stewart, and Joanna Lanier.

She is survived by her husband, Richard J Smith, and their three children — Ricky, Tammy and Danny and families. And Richard and Sharon’s dog Gidget. Ricky and wife Susan Smith and son Dylan from Salem, Oregon. Tammy and husband Kevin Stark and their three kids and five grandkids. Tasha and husband Jamin Olson and children Deonnie Mello, Tyren Mello, Jeremy Olsen. Jesse Stark and wife Kalynne Hannah and children Landen and Khloe Stark. Danielle Stark. Danny Smith and wife Tiffany Drouillard and Danny‘s daughter Kaylee Smith and Grandson Alex.

She is also survived by her brother Dennis Sellars, sister Vickie and Bob Balke, Sister Terry Young, and brother Bobby Sellars. And many cousins, nieces, and nephews and friends.

Per Sharon’s request please wear bright and happy colors to the funeral
