It is with great sadness that the family of Tahnia Marie Brownfield announces her passing on March 6, 2018 after a difficult battle with cancer.
Tahnia was born to parents Melvin and Sharon Olson on August 7th, 1964. She has two brothers, Gary and Shawn, and was very close to both of them. The Olson family lived in Eureka and spent time camping, swimming, bowling and traveling to visit relatives. Mel and Sharon would later divorce and Mel remarried Barbara Olson. Barbara had three children from a previous marriage who became a part of Tahnia’s family — Connie, Lori and Donald. Tahnia also shared a special bond with her Uncle Mike Borgelin who was like an older brother to her.
Tahnia grew up in Eureka and attended Lincoln Elementary School, Jacobs Jr High School and Eureka High School. She was always a hard worker and always held a job. Tahnia worked at Antonio’s Take and Bake, Fresh Freeze, Bon Boniere ice cream parlor, Family Bargain Center and McDonald’s just to name a few.
Tahnia met and married Craig Brownfield and they had two wonderful children, Christina and Casey. Her children were the love of her life. Tahnia devoted all her time to raising her kids and was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with her family above all else.
Tahnia lived in Carlotta while raising her children and had many family and friends in the Fortuna and Carlotta/Hydesville area which she was very thankful for. Tahnia was always involved in the school functions and attended church in Hydesville, where she was a Sunday School teacher for a while. Tahnia loved the Lord and her faith in him is what help carry her through the tough times. Craig and Tahnia later divorced and she started a new chapter in her life with her Fiance’ Collin Kinser. They lived together with their dog Tink, who Tahnia loved dearly, in Fortuna and recently in King Salmon. Collin took Tahnia to her first SF Giants ballgame and she was thrilled! She was also a 49er fan and Warriors basketball fan! Her brothers got her into watching NASCAR and she loved it! Tahnia enjoyed gardening, spending time in the sun, family BBQ’s and her many different animals. She treasured the time spent with her kids at Trinity Lake on the houseboat.
Tahnia had cancer many years ago and beat it but the hardships of dealing with the cancer and some personal trials almost broke her spirit but she was always a warrior and would pick herself up and carry on no matter what. Tahnia always had a smile and a hug for everyone she ever met. Tahnia was a kind and loving spirit and such a beautiful person and will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to thank Hospice for their loving and kind help during this difficult time.
Tahnia was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Olson, her uncle Frank Borgelin and her grandparents and other extended family.
Tahnia is survived by her mother, Sharon Olson, her children, Christina Brownfield and Casey Brownfield and his wife Stacy. Fiance’ Collin Kinser and his family, her brothers, Gary (Jeannie) and Shawn (Nikki) and their extended families. Tahnia was blessed to have an abundant amount of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews which there are too many to list.
There will be a celebration of life for Tahnia on April 8, 2018 at The Women’s Club in Samoa — 115 Rideout Ave. — at 2 p.m. Beverages and food will be provided. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to your favorite animal shelter.
