Last Saturday during the performance “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” a serious accident happened on stage. During a scene of some mild stage combat, Morgan Cox (Hedwig) was hit full in the face with a glass vodka bottle. It was a choreographed move that went terribly wrong.

The house lights went up and Cox was rushed to the hospital. He wound up with 20 stitches in his face. Amazingly, this event never made the news … until now. Thursday afternoon, Morgan gave me a one-on-one interview to fully explain what happened. At the time of the interview, he fully expected to resume his role tonight (Friday). However, since then, his doctors have advised against it.

This weekend’s performance has been canceled. The show will resume next weekend. An additional weekend will be added to the run to make up for the lost weekend. And yes, the scene in question has since been altered to prevent any further mishaps.
