From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

Rau

On May 19, 2018, at about 10:40 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the 500 block of Scenic Drive in Loleta. According to the reporting party, a male and female subject exited the vehicle, removed several bags and left the area in a white pickup truck. The parked vehicle was later found to be reported stolen out of Eureka.

While on scene, a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy observed a white pickup truck matching the reporting party’s description drive by southbound on Scenic Drive. A second deputy on patrol in the Loleta area conducted a traffic stop on the pickup truck, detaining the driver, 37-year-old Joshua Dale Rau of Eureka, and a female passenger.

Deputies learned that Rau was on probation for drug-related charges. Rau was positively identified as the subject observed exiting the stolen vehicle earlier that night. Rau was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and violation of probation.

The female passenger was released at the scene.
