From the Humboldt County Drug Task Force:

On May 3rd, 2018 Special Agents with the Drug Task Force were conducting surveillance at a motel in the 2800 block of Broadway in Eureka. They were acting on a tip that wanted felon, 30 year old Andrew Garcia was staying at the motel with his girlfriend, 24 year old Cierra Oscar. Garcia had a warrant for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

At about 11:00 A.M., Agents spotted Garcia and Oscar exit a motel room and enter a vehicle parked in the parking lot. Agents identified themselves and moved in to make the arrest. Garcia attempted to flee the area on foot, but was tackled by an Agent. During the struggle a semi-automatic pistol fell from Garcia’s waistband. Garcia was placed in handcuffs without further incident. A search of his person revealed approximately 4 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Garcia was placed under arrest for his warrant, being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a controlled substance for sale, being armed while in possession of a controlled substance, obstructing or delaying a peace officer, and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

Agents learned that Oscar was on probation with a search and seizure clause. A search of her person revealed approximately ½ gram of suspected methamphetamine. She was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation.

Agents also located 29 year old Gilroy resident, Robert Barrios who had a no bail, parole violation warrant for his arrest. Barrios was placed under arrest for his warrant.

All three subjects were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked and housed.
