Multiple fire agencies are currently handling an escaped controlled burn reportedly spreading along a Fortuna hillside.

According to scanner audio, firefighters were dispatched to 161 Finch Creek Road just south of Fernbridge after the fire reportedly began to burn out of control around 3:15 p.m.

Initial reports from the scene indicated that a 100 by 200-foot fire was moving quickly up a hillside, but later reports stated that the fire was spreading slowly.

Multiple engines and a water tender were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters have reportedly stopped the fire’s forward progress.
