On Nov. 3, 2018, at about 7:30 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received several calls for service from a residence on the 200 block of Carroll Road in Loleta regarding a disturbance.
Upon arrival to the property, residents told deputies that two possibly intoxicated subjects had fled the property in a white Chevy Impala with minors inside. Deputies learned that one of the subjects had several warrants for his arrest. As deputies began to patrol the area in search of the vehicle, the Communications Center received another call for service regarding an assault occurring at a residence on the 200 block of Carrol Road, nearby the earlier incident location.
Deputies met with two victims of the assault at a gas station on Bear River Drive in Loleta. Deputies learned that the victims had been cleaning the property on Carroll Road at about 7:30 p.m. when they heard the disturbance occurring at the property nearby. A short time later, the victims were confronted by a female suspect regarding their presence on the property. The suspect then assaulted the victims. The victims fled to the gas station where they were able to call for help.
Deputies patrolling the area located the suspect vehicle traveling south on Copenhagen Road at over 60 miles per hour. Deputies, assisted by the California Highway Patrol and a Bureau of Land Management ranger, conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle near Hawks Hill Road. The driver of the vehicle, 37-year-old Rebecca Sue Owen (aka Donahue), was positively identified as the suspect of the earlier assault.
Owen was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the following charges: battery, assault and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The passenger of the vehicle, 27-year-old Quintin Duane Donahue, was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on three warrants for felony vandalism, domestic violence, driving under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol level of .15 or over and driving with a suspended license, as well as fresh charges of possession of a controlled substance. His bail is set at $35,000.
One minor was located in the vehicle and was placed in safe custody.
