Janice
A. Bennett Dore, 87,
of Rio Dell, died April 3, 2019 in the comfort of her home. She was
born to John and Grace Bennett on May 16, 1931 in South Dakota.
Janice was the fifth of their eight children. The family lived in
South
Dakota,
Oregon
and Washington
before moving to Fieldbrook in 1948.
Janice graduated from Arcata High School in 1949. In 1950 she married Charles “Jack” Dore and moved to Orick. Janice and Jack raised their four children in Orick and spent 56 of their 69 years of marriage as a part of the community. In 2006 they moved to Rio Dell to be closer to their children.
Janice was an avid gardener, talented quilter, incredible cook and baker and most of all an amazing mother, grandmother and GG. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jack, her children Kathryn (Dave) Bugbee, Frank (Pam) Dore and Teresa (Rick) Lewis, her grandchildren, Jackie (Joe) Eldridge, Monica Pitts, Marci (Dan) Schultz, Lindsey (Ryan) Kleiner, Katie (Charles) Ellebrecht, Jessica (Nick) Guest and Frank Jr. (Katie) Dore and her 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Thomas, her parents John and Grace Bennett and her siblings Fae Bennett, Fern Christman, Marjorie Royer, Lucille Gatti, Shirley Lloyd, Judith Bailey and Howard Bennett.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12 at Sunrise Cemetery in Fortuna.
