The Eureka girls will carry plenty of momentum into their home opener this week.

After traveling roughly 1,300 miles over the first month of the season, the Loggers will finally host a game this week, when they play Del Norte on Wednesday in what will also be their league opener.

On Saturday, the Loggers swept a pair of games at Ukiah High, defeating the host team 16-4 and Maria Carrillo 5-4.

With the two wins, the Eureka girls improve to 6-2 and have now won six of their last seven games.

Sophomore Alexa Morehouse pitched both wins, and has been a solid addition to the team this season.

Morehouse pitched 12.2 innings over the two games, allowing five earned runs while striking out 18 batters.

At the plate, the Eureka pitcher continued to get plenty of support.

In the opener, Sadie Hampton and McKenna Beach each finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, including a pair of doubles by Beach.

Karyn Jensen and Makaila Napoleon each added two hits and a pair of RBIs, including a triple by Napoleon and a double by Jensen.

Against Maria Carrillo, Sadie Wilkinson was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Briana Day and Emrene Melelm each was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
