The Eureka Loggers took over the top three individual spots in the Humboldt-Del Norte League in boys golf on Thursday with another strong showing at Shelter Cove.

Matt Dusi shot a very impressive 66 to pace the field, with McKinleyville’s AJ Stubbs second best on the day, 14 strokes back.

Dusi’s dominance helped him move up to third overall in the individual season standings, trailing only teammates Chance Olson and Garrett McKenzie

Olson leads the league with a total of 398, which is 14 strokes ahead of McKenzie (412), with Dusi (420) in third, Arcata’s Jack Baca (428) in fourth, and Arcata’s Kyle Plumley (432) and Eureka Hunter Blevins (432) in a tie for fifth.

On Thursday, McKinleyville’s Freddie Sundberg shot an 82 to place third, with McKenzie (83) and Blevins (87) rounding out the top five individual scores.

Olson was sixth best on the day with a 90 to retain his overall season advantage.

Eureka won the team competition to extend the Loggers’ commanding season lead, with McKinleyville second on the day and South Fork third.

Dezmon Lafferty and Therin Blair both shot a 92 to pace the Cubs.

Arcata was fifth on the day but remains second overall on the season, with Mack in third.

The final round of league play will take place on Monday in Fortuna.
