The Fortuna Huskies ended an eight-game losing streak with a doubleheader sweep at struggling Hoopa on Thursday.

The Fortuna bats exploded for 45 hits in the two games, as the visitors won 16-0 and 14-3.

Sophomore Regan Nyberg had four hits and four RBIs in the opener, while teammate Garrett Aust had three hits and Sheaden Kadle two.

Ethan Ward also drove in four runs and Wyatt Wilson two.

Aust stepped up again in game two, finishing with four hits and two RBIs, while Gabe Sandberg had three hits and three RBIs.

Cory Johnson also had two hits, while Caleb Crawley had three RBIs.

With the wins, the Huskies improved to 5-15, while Hoopa is now 0-15.

The Huskies return to the Big 5 for a three-game series against Del Norte next week, with each looking for a first league win.

Hoopa closes out the season in a doubleheader at home to St. Bernard’s next Thursday.
