Humboldt’s Congressman Jared Huffman introduced Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke at a town hall meeting in San Francisco today.
Huffman hyped the crowd by sharing that he and O’Rourke used to be roommates, and later brought him on stage with an uproarious “Beto” chant.
Huffman told the Windsor Times earlier this month that O’Rourke is one of his favorite candidates — and a close friend.
“It’s no secret that Beto O’Rourke is a close personal friend of mine,” he told the Windsor Times. “He was my housemate for three years in Washington. I’m really close to Beto and his family, and I’m really excited to see him doing this. I think he has a lot to offer.”
While giving thanks to to Huffman, O’Rourke elaborated on their past living situation.
“Jared told you that we were roommates,” O’Rourke said. “What he did not tell you, was that he was my landlord. For three years, I and [Rep.] Salud Carbajal lived with Jared in a small townhouse that he and [his wife] owned. He did not raise my rent [once].”
