Submitted photo – Orion and Louis Cosce celebrate their wins in San Francisco on Saturday night.

Brothers Orion and Louis Cosce each improved to 4-0 in the pro MMA ranks with wins at the URCC event at the Cow Palace in San Francisco on Saturday night.

The former Hoopa High wrestlers, who were fighting on the same card for the first time, have impressed as pros with seven of their combined eight wins coming in the opening round.

On Saturday, younger brother Louis, who turns 24 this month, continued that trend by getting the better of opponent Daniel McWilliams with a submission less than 90 seconds into the fight.

“He dominated,” trainer Brian Wilson said. “He dominated every aspect of the fight. There was no back and forth.”

McWilliams brought plenty of experience to the showdown, having fought in 60 fights, winning 19.

But that didn’t slow down Louis, who won on a guillotine choke.

“I was just super happy I got to perform at a bigger stage in the city,” he said. “And have a chance to get my name out there.”

As for the fight itself, Louis left little doubt.

“Everything kind of went according to plan,” he said.

Orion had a tougher time of it against Joseph Kropschot, who came in with a record of 9-0 as an amateur and pro combined, before the Humboldt native ended the fight with a third-round TKO.

The win comes just two weeks after Orion got the better of Ryan Wilson in just 11 seconds in Redding.

“It was a great fight,” Wilson said. “That guy (Kropschot) is really talented. He was really good. Orion fought well.”

In particular, Wilson was impressed with how his fighter responded to the challenge.

“He faced adversity against a talented guy and he came out on top,” he said.

For Orion, the win was satisfying for other reasons as well.

“Everybody always thought that it would be my gas tank that would be a problem,” he said. “And I think I proved I can go as long as I need to.”

The older brother admitted he got off to a slower start than he would have liked, and says he was over-thinking things early before settling down.

“He fought a good fight,” Orion said of his opponent. “The kid had heart.”

The fight also gives the 25-year-old Orion some valuable fight film to study, something you don’t get with the quick finishes.

“We’ll look at the film, and there’s definitely some stuff he’ll work on,” Wilson said.

Orion will be back in the cage for a third time in just five weeks as the main event at the next Bear River Casino fight night on August 31st.

And he said he’s glad to be busy.

“You know what, I’ll fight whenever,” he said. “I love fighting.”

Louis, meanwhile, has no other fights scheduled right now, but is eager to get back in the cage.

“Hopefully something soon,” he said.

The late-August Bear River fight night is expected to feature more local talent that any of the previous nine fight nights at the casino.

“As far as local talent, it’s going to be one of the best fight nights we’ve ever had,” said Wilson, who promotes the event with his company Hard Fought Productions. “We’re excited about it.”

In addition to Orion, local favorites Andrew Guisa, Austin Moore and Jacob Hodge are all scheduled to fight.
